Cartour Spring 2017 number 18

Saturday April 1st

Service dogs at Las Cruces farmers market

New flips and grips

Not a travel day as S and I remain here in Las Cruces, New Mexico with C. and M. Mercury and join them and a number of fellows from New Jersey at the Farm and Craft Fair to which S and I biked. It was genuinely overcast and cool and most were bundled walking to and fro among the booths. S bought some polished stones from some rock hounds and later at the adobe at Solana and Monte Vista street where we now reside, since C and M Mercury have decamped to Deming for the wedding and late late celebrations, she took silver wire from Hobby Lobby and added semi-precious stones to a new pair of flipflops because C's broke at the Fair earlier today. Tried of waiting with the bike outside Hobby Lobby I went off to a bike shop to get some new grips my old ones having started to get that terminal and annoying stickiness from being chemically transformed by sweat and other fluids from the hands, over time. I chose the plain straight purple ones and spent a long time augering a hole in the hard plastic end of one so I could remount my rearview mirror.

Latin Comedy Jam later in the evening back at the market venue was a glimpse into the world of hispanic humor and Las Crucian culture. All ethnicities were equally dissed and sex was a popular theme. Undercutting machismo was also prevalent. Three acts, all guys. The adobe is all ours for the night so we took the big beds after sufficient chips and some really good Crucian pico de gallo.
