| Sundown through the courtyard wall |
S takes C to El Paso to catch a plane to Dallas where C hopes to miss her connection to Newark so she can visit with her cousin, Dave (it works). Me, I stay at the adobe and try to read. Later I rode bike to New Mexico State University where there was a smattering of zombic or hostile youths; maybe it was Spring break. When S got home I went on a quixotic search for good bread - an artisanal loaf. So that involved a li bit of phone search and a lot of driving and dead-reckoning in the Las Cruces sprawl which is largely one story but the bright light and 6 lane one way streets erase that or is one story part of the problem. At any rate I had to reject 2 places and the third didn’t open until five. I came back an got a decent not great artisanal loaf in the end for $3.65. Also on the up side I scored a tank of $2.13 gasoline at an off-brand establishment with a good stream of hot but beat cars helmed by latin teens with those big can exhausts. The place was crowded which lead to some radical pump approaches.
Exhausted after hours of this but with some ice cream and coke a cola for some floats. Watched TV of build or fixing up an old house while I made a salad with vegetable oil and lemon also garlic and a bit of salt.
