Out of the Madras Econolodge Chateau after a light breakfast of scrambleds, sausages, waffles, muffins and coffee we rambled south toward Bend. Called a nice woman at the Oregon DOT for a report on pass conditions through the Siskiyous. It's fine. Light overcast. Heavy accumulations of snow in Chemult all of it covered with red crushed gravel.
Collier Logging Museum:
huge machines, good toilets.
Into Klamath Falls, little snow but ugly bleak. Looking for a spot for luncheon; Nibbley's was sounding good until I read the 4 negative reviews. So we chose Mermaid Garden. We shall see....
Lunch was very good; portobello sandwich and clam chowder for me. I recant, Klamath Falls is not ugly, in the downtown anyway.

Went on a merry chase for a bookstore and found a good one.
Klamath to Weed on the Volcanic Legacy Hwy. (97) for coffee and on to 5 and down to Corning. Right at Corning to camp at Buckhorn Res. again. Nailed site number 1 after several tries.
Quick dip; Ramona dry.
Met a pleasant woman with two dog she said were a German breed called Ras or something. They looked like chows.
Noisy tribe arrived to dim the glow a bit.
